The North Carolina Central University (NCCU) Department of Criminal Justice (CJ) has received a substantial research grant of $100,000 from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to investigate the complex challenges local emergency management agencies encounter in rural communities during medical surge scenarios resulting from catastrophic disasters.

The Collected Lady Eagle Oral History Project-Training Research Acumen (CLEOPATRA) of Black women NCCU graduates with justice-based careers launched on March 1, 2025. This is NCCU's first oral history archive. Forty-three students have interviewed twenty-two women since October of 2023.

North Carolina Central University (NCCU) has received a $100,000 scholarship endowment from the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering – Carolina South Atlantic Chapter (ISPE-CaSA). The announcement was made at ISPE-CaSA’s Technology Show, the organization’s largest annual event, attended by nearly 3,000 industry professionals.  

A legacy of leadership and service will continue to shape future generations at North Carolina Central University (NCCU) thanks to a $100,000 gift from donor Robert Powell, establishing the Reverend Dr. William C. Turner Jr. Endowed Scholarship Fund. This endowment honors Reverend Dr. William C. Turner Jr.’s lifelong commitment to civic engagement and leadership in the Durham community.
